The Rhythm of Apology

As the drawing of breath

leads to the gaps of nothing

as the quietness invades

and the silence overwhelms

a quiet word leaves my lips

which surrenders the silence

and makes the moment meaningful

at least for the speaker

and hopefully as the die is cast

my metaphor will be nothing
